Today, a sexy and elegant dance, tango was once a music of escape, rooted in the pain, desire and loneliness of Argentina’s immigrants and societal outcasts, borrowing from the music of many nations.
Arash chose the metaphor of the tango in his composition Dilemma to depict his own inner struggles and doubts around a difficult decision he faced.
The emotional conflict in the video is dramatized in the “push/pull” that characterizes the tango, heightened further by the woman’s conflicted desires. She is at once drawn to her partner but also seduced by the siren call of the music.
